Welcome to the Chromosome Structure & Development Group
We are interested in how proteins necessary for chromosome architecture contribute to gene expression, animal development and cancer.
The main focus of our research is to understand the regulation of gene expression by cohesin and related proteins, which are also required for sister chromatid cohesion during mitosis (see “Background”). To do most of our research, we are using the genetically amenable vertebrate animal model, the zebrafish.
Our research utilises the Otago Zebrafish Facility: www.otago.ac.nz/zebrafish
Our group is located in the Department of Pathology, Dunedin School of Medicine, at the University of Otago. We are in sunny Dunedin, New Zealand. Teaching and research in our group is associated with Genetics Otago: www.otago.ac.nz/genetics
