Invercargill experiences a variable climate, with temperate summers and cold winters. Typical summer maximums can reach 23°C, and winter maximums are usually around 12°C. Frosts are frequent in winter, but persistent snow is uncommon, usually only reaching the low inland hills.
A service centre to the farming community, Invercargill is the perfect place to relax and experience rural New Zealand at its best. The city is easy to explore and is within easy reach of some of New Zealand's most famous wildlife reserves including Stewart Island, Fiordland and the Catlins. The city boasts excellent shopping, cafes and restaurants in a modern, vibrant environment.
