Abstract

Hou Rongo – Moriori, Music, Manawa is an immersive exhibition on at Tūhura Otago Museum from 14 September to 27 October. Hou Rongo invites visitors to step into the world of Moriori, the original people of Rēkohu / Rangihaute (Chatham Islands), through a stunning blend of traditional culture and cutting-edge technology.

In this Centre for Sustainability seminar, Associate Professor Steve Mills (computer scientist) and Professor Nancy Longnecker (science communicator and exhibition curator) will share some of their experiences developing this inspiring exhibition.

The Hou Rongo exhibition was developed in partnership with the Hokotehi Moriori Trust and the University of Otago and offers a rare and profound insight into the culture of New Zealand's indigenous Moriori people.
