The Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research Centre, along with the Healthier Lives National Science Challenge and The Riddet Institute, a national Centre of Research Excellence, co-hosted a research symposium and two workshops on 11-12 February, 2019, in Dunedin, NZ.
The Focus on Fibre and Food Monitoring symposium examined two topical aspects of human nutrition and health:
- the role of dietary fibre in preventing and treating non-communicable diseases;
- the importance of knowing what New Zealanders eat to inform health research and policy.

Focus on Fibre and Food Monitoring programme
- Focus on Fibre: Monday 11 February, 1pm-5.30pm, followed by symposium dinner
- Focus on Food Monitoring: Tuesday 12 February, 9am-1pm.
Two workshops, one focusing on fibre and the other on food monitoring, were held on the Tuesday afternoon, 2-4.30pm.
