Timeline for submission of an Indicative Proposal for a New Programme

Indicative Proposal for a New Programme (new qualification or new major subject or endorsement or minor subject)

When preparing an indicative proposal, a proposer must complete Section 1 of the template and submit it to their Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s (PVC’s) office to ensure the PVC supports the programme being proposed.

If the PVC supports progressing the indicative proposal to the next stage, engagement with the Strategy, Analytics, and Reporting Office (SARO) is required to complete the rest of the template.

Once completed, the indicative proposal should again be submitted to the PVC’s office for evaluation. The PVC will determine whether the indicative proposal should be lodged with the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (DVC(A)) for consideration by the DVCs/PVCs Advisory Group (DVCs/PVCs).

A full New Programme Proposal should only be developed once approval is obtained from the DVCs/PVCs, and feedback from the DVCs/PVCs should be considered and incorporated into the full proposal.

The DVCs/PVCs will consider indicative proposals only once every year. Consideration will be timed to align with the first CUAP round of the following year.

In 2024, indicative proposals should be timed to begin engagement with SARO no later than 1 July, and completed indicative proposals should be lodged with the DVC(A)’s office no later than 5 August, for consideration by the DVCs/PVCs on 12 August.

If an indicative proposal is approved by the DVCs/PVCs, the full New Programme Proposal should be completed in time for the first CUAP round of the following year. Contact Academic Committees and Services for advice on CUAP deadlines.

Exceptions to the above deadlines requires approval from the DVC(A).
