Christchurch has a pleasant climate, with warm summers and cool winters. Frosts are fairly common in winter and Christchurch usually has at least one significant snowfall each year. The average annual rainfall is 62cm with around 2070 sunshine hours each year.

The University of Otago in Christchurch
The Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences was formally established in 1972 to provide clinical training for undergraduate medical students. The School's central building and facilities are located on the Christchurch Hospital campus, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens.
