We had a fantastic selection of entries to our 2022 photo competition from our alumni. Our four judges were once again impressed with the high standard of photographs submitted. When the judges' decisions were collated, we found that several photographers dominated this year's competition. Congratulations to our winners and runners up for 2022 and thank you to all our wonderful alumni who entered!
Joanna Hopkins is first in the Nature category with her photo “Endangered White Rhinos in Botswana”. These white rhinos need to be guarded 24/7 to ensure their safety. Runner up is Rachel Reddy's “Snack time” with her shot of a South Island robin in Dunedin's Orokonui Ecosanctuary.
Evelyn Suk Yi Looi took out first place in the Architecture category with “A glimpse of the peaceful past”, a photo of Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul, and Evelyn is also runner up with “Hello and goodbye” showing Melbourne's cityscape during New Year's celebrations.
Joanna Hopkins' winning photo in the People category, “Yeah, nah” was taken at a local school in Namibia while she was fundraising for endangered white rhino. Runner up is Shani Pillai's photo "A leap of faith" is of a pilgrim at Pushkar Vishnu temple in India.
Street food was to the fore in our Food category. Evelyn Suk Yi Looi's winning photo, “The warmth of food” features a roadside stall in Seoul selling spicy fish, and runner up, Shani Pillai's photo “Cricket, anyone?” is of a popular street snack in Phnom Penh.
