What is Nohoaka Pakihi?
Nohoaka Pakihi is an amazing opportunity for Y12 and Y13 Māori students in Aotearoa who are interested in pursuing business studies. This is a fully funded scholarship for successful applicants to attend a 4 day programme held on campus in Dunedin. Experience life in a residential college, meet Māori support staff and business academics and get a feel for what a student life is like at Otago University.
There are a number of travel scholarships available for students who live outside Dunedin.
Nohoaka Pakihi activities
Students will explore the University campus and the student city of Dunedin and participate in business activities that will inspire and challenge their business mindset. This business boot camp styled programme aims to develop skills in innovation, collaboration, entrepreneurship, economics, sustainability and Māori business frameworks. This programme also offers students an experience in a residential college and an opportunity to meet Te Huka Mātauraka staff who provide great support for Māori students while they are studying at Otago University.
When is Nohoaka Pakihi?
Nohoaka Pakihi is held Sunday 30 May – Thursday 3 June 2021.
The four-day programme is run by academic staff from the University of Otago and Audacious powered by Startup Dunedin.
Who can apply?
- Y12 and Y13 students of Māori descent
- Currently enrolled in a New Zealand secondary school
- Working towards achieving University Entrance
- Considering studying at the University of Otago
