Where my Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) helps me now
The DBA was an adventure in business, academic and personal learning and development. It advanced my critical thinking, communication skills, knowledge of business, and knowledge of the specialist business area.
For me, the research emphasized what it takes to be a successful business, I met many people from across Otago, New Zealand and internationally. It opened up doors and dialogue with like-minded people on an important topic for society and knowledge advancement. It also provided experience in using different business and research tools.
A highlight was working with the other DBA students. We created a community woven from different countries, cultures, and business, to develop a rich experience, life-long friendships and business interactions. The staff were exceptional; supportive yet challenging.
My advice to potential DBA students
Start, don't wait for the perfect time to commence a DBA or the perfect topic, there is no perfect time or topic. As the famous Turkish Poet, Rumi said … “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”
