Write your Referees section. In this section, you need to provide the prospective employer with an essential tool they need to take your application further - a way to get in touch with people who can verify the history, skills and quality you put forward in your CV.
Pick some referees and get in touch
Before you start your referees section, you need to get in touch with 2 or 3 people who would support your application if a prospective employer gave them a call.
Make sure the referees you choose are appropriate to the position you're applying for, and help out your referees by forwarding them a copy of the job description and your finished CV so they know what they're talking about when they get the call.
Use silent tables to lay out your referee info effectively
A silent table is the best way to lay this section out neatly, but it needs to be slightly different from your qualifications and work history tables.
- Leave a gap of one line after the previous section and head up your referees section
- Immediately below your heading, create a table of 2 columns and 2 rows. The cells will grow as you type, so don't worry about adjusting the size
- Enter the full contact details of each of your referees, one in each cell, in order of importance and relevance to the position
- Make the name of each referee bold
- Make the table invisible
Next step: Optional sections - if you've got any further sections to add, carry on to sort them out.
