Here at Carrington, we have an extensive network of well-trained and highly experienced support staff. Below are just a few of the people who offer support for Carrington residents.
Sub-Wardens | Kaiāwhina Whare
All members of our Sub-Warden team live on site and are a valuable resource regarding Carrington and student life. Every “Flouse” (floor/house) has a designated sub-warden; you will meet your sub-warden on your first day at Carrington, and they will serve as the first point of contact for the questions you're sure to have as you adjust to collegiate and university life.
We encourage you to get to know the sub-wardens! They have all been first-year residents themselves and are still studying. The sub-wardens will be working hard to get to know you, too!
You will see the sub-warden team all over the College. They manage the day-to day aspects of College life, complete rostered evening and weekend duties, provide pastoral care support, distribute late dinners, and oversee the weekly linen change.
One of the main times you'll come across the sub-wardens will be on their nightly rounds through the Flouses and common spaces. Rounds serve a number functions, including community building, checking for health and safety risks around the buildings and grounds, and ensuring the atmosphere is conducive to sleep and study.
When not on rounds or assisting residents, the Duty Sub-Warden(s) will be present in the dining room over meal times (evenings/weekends), or at Reception in Linton House. The Duty Sub-Warden(s) or Security are in place outside of normal business hours and can be reached on 03 479 5533.
Our sub-wardens are carefully selected and trained, and they are here to help! Please don't hesitate to approach them with any questions you may have.
