Abstract
The central pou of Jamie's doctoral research is an investigation of the customary concept of mauri from the perspective of taonga. It ultimately asks how museums can look towards an aspirational future and transition from tools of colonisation into new sites of healing and kin identity affirmation. The study will be guided by the methodological approach, kaupapa Ngāi Tahu, to create outcomes which serve Ngāi Tahu, its whenua, descendants and taonga.
