Background

Nicola Scott is a Research Fellow with the Christchurch Heart Institute.

She has a background in molecular biology with an emphasis on the pathways involved in cardiac fibrosis and hypertrophy. Since joining the Physiology Research group she has developed an interest in the integrated cardiovascular, endocrine and renal control of pressure / volume homeostasis across the spectrum of cardiovascular health and disease.

Research interests

  • Neurohormonal physiology and pathophysiology in cardiovascular health and disease
  • Integrative cardiovascular, endocrine and renal physiology of pressure / volume homeostasis
  • Bioactivity of vasoactive hormones
  • Pathophysiology of myocardial infarction and heart failure
  • Cardiac Imaging
