Niki has been working in simulation-based medical education, developing clinical and professional skills in the MBChB programme at the University of Otago Christchurch (UOC), since 2009.
The UOC Simulation Centre (UOCSC) was developed as part of a Faculty of Medicine initiative to expand the Clinical Skills programme and facilities at the Christchurch campus of the University of Otago, Division of Health Sciences.
Niki's role is to lead the strategic planning and development as well as the day-to-day running of the Centre. She is also responsible for overseeing and supporting the use of the facility by all students and teaching staff but has direct teaching responsibility for the undergraduate medical programme.
She completed the Boston Children's Hospital Simulator Program, Paediatric Simulation Instructors Workshop in Auckland in 2012 and the ESME Certificate in Medical Education in 2017 and is a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd).
