Kate has been a midwife since 1992, training in London. She has worked in many areas including setting up a midwifery centre in London, Lead Maternity carer work in New Zealand, and at both tertiary and primary hospitals in Christchurch and London.
Kate has always had a focus on teaching in the obstetric clinical area to midwives, medical students and junior doctors. Her current role with the university is a Professional Practice Fellow, Midwife Tutor where her main responsibility is to give a midwifery perspective to both 5th year medical students and doctors undertaking the Diploma of Obstetrics. She still works as a midwife and charge midwife at Christchurch Women's Hospital so hopes to be a good resource person and support to our medical students.
