About the conference
The Performance Measurement Association of Australasia ( PMAA ) 2021 conference, which will be PMAA 's fifth biennial conference, will be held in Queenstown, New Zealand in the fall of 2021, or spring if you are from "up north."
This global event is a must for scholars and practitioners alike. The conference will promote, question, challenge and criticise theories and applications of performance measurement and management in all spheres of industry, commerce, government and society. The conference theme focuses on innovation in performance measurement and management thought and practice. CPD credit can be earned.
PMAA 's aim is to engage practitioners, academics and consultants in a joint dialogue on inter-disciplinary performance measurement and management issues evident in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, and therefore the likely topics to feature at the conference with a focus on post-COVID-19 business management and:
- Inter-dependencies
- Performance measurement frameworks
- Sustainability and performance measurement
- Design of information flows
- Designing and implementing performance measurement and management systems
- Disciplinary/functional perspectives on performance
- Managing organizational performance and performance measurement systems ( PMS )
- Performance management and human resource management
- Measuring dimensions of performance, learning and development outlays
- Measuring performance in design and new product research and development
- Organisational structure/responsibility centre design and accountability performance alignment, e.g. KPIs, underlying business drivers
- Performance measurement and management, including change
- Operations management and supply chain management
- Performance reporting and disclosure (e.g. operating and financial review, environmental reporting, corporate social responsibility)
- Strategic position/alignment
- Strategy and information systems
Paper submission details
Submissions of papers, panel and workshop proposals are invited.
When submitting papers, please provide either an extended abstract of approximately 1,000 to 1,500 words or your full paper. Panel workshop proposals should be supported by sufficient detail about the topic, length and featured speakers.
Submissions open on June 1, and the deadline for all forms of submissions is 31 August 2021. Early submissions are encouraged, and these will be evaluated and a decision provided within two weeks of their receipt.
Participants, location and registration costs
Please note that this conference will be run as a hybrid model. Conference attendees can choose to attend the conference in-person or online using the Zoom platform.
Conference attendees are expected to come from all around the world, including Australia, East Asia, South Asia, North America and the European Union. We would especially welcome guests from Central and South America, Africa and the rest of Asia. Similar to past conferences, we expect a good turnout of participants from both industry and academia.
The conference venue will be Queenstown, known as the adventure capital of New Zealand. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu's pristine waters and with the surrounding Southern Alps in the background, Queenstown is renowned for its natural beauty and many tourist attractions. Conference attendees are likely to want to spend a few days on either side of the conference exploring the town and its environs.
