Overview

We are pleased to announce a postgraduate research opportunity in the Department of Pathology focused on improving cancer diagnosis through innovative imaging techniques. Delays in cancer diagnosis significantly affect treatment outcomes, and while the concurrent use of cancer imaging and molecular diagnostics has improved early detection, there remains a critical need for enhanced clinical and cost-effectiveness.

This project will explore the application of microwave imaging (MWI) as a complementary tool to traditional imaging methods such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We aim to develop a novel MWI approach utilizing super-wideband (SWB) antennas, which promise to offer significant advantages over existing MWI techniques.

The research will involve testing the performance of this imaging system in detecting tumors and monitoring treatment responses in mouse models with both deep-seated and superficial tumors. Our work has strong potential for clinical translation, paving the way for earlier and safer cancer screening and significantly impacting cancer detection practices.

Candidates with backgrounds in biomedical engineering, imaging sciences, cancer detection, or cancer immunotherapy are encouraged to apply. This project provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformative research in cancer diagnostics.
