The week began with an opening ceremony for “Te Reo o Te Hauora, Te Hauora o Te Reo" at the Hocken Library. This foyer exhibition was developed in collaboration with Dr Anne-Marie Jackson from the School of Physical Education Sport and Exercise Sciences – Te Kura Para-Whakawai. Dr Jackson used the Hocken Library's poster collection to profile the history of Māori health promotion in Aotearoa using Māori health promotion posters from the 1950s through to more recent Māori health promotional campaigns. The display at the Law Library was developed in collaboration with Associate Professor Jacinta Ruru and profiled the relationship and similarities between Magna Carta and the Treaty of Waitangi. The Central Library profiled Dr Lyn Carter from Te Tumu and her research  on Māori naming and use of whakapapa research methodology.

The Science Library profiled Dr Lisa Te Morenga from the Department of Human Nutrition and her research on sugar and obesity. The Robertson Library marked Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 2015 with a display of posters from our last four years of celebrating Māori Research at Otago.

The Medical Library highlighted the Meihana model used in the medical curriculum to teach cultural competence, and the research into health inequalities experienced by Māori in New Zealand by Dr Bridget Robson, Associate Dean Māori based in Wellington. The Dental Library highlighted the Te Whare Tapa Whā model used in the dental curriculum and the work of Professor John Broughton. See more on the Health Sciences blog and flickr.
