The Reserve collections provide access to high demand items, such as textbooks, books and DVDs, and eReserve for online resources. All Library branches (with the exception of Hocken Collections) have a Reserve section for physical items.
Students access Reserve via the Reserve search.
Types of Reserve
Below is a list and description of the different types of Reserve available to students.
2 or 3 hour Reserve
Seven-day loan books
eReserve
How to place items on Reserve
Please email a list of your required readings to reserve.library@otago.ac.nz.
You will need to indicate in your list the length of time the items can be loaned out to students. The options are:
- Two hour loan for very high demand material, or
- Seven-day loan.
Audiovisual (AV) material automatically has a three hour loan period.
Materials on Reserve may either be Library-owned or personal copies of the staff member placing the item on Reserve. The Library is not responsible for loss or damage to personal copies. Where possible, the Library will purchase a copy for the collection.
Processing Reserve material may take up to three weeks, so we ask that required readings be sent through as soon as possible. Please allow time for us to source material not held by the Library; some material may require purchasing from overseas vendors.
