Overview
The Department of Oral Rehabilitation is one of three departments within the University of Otago's Faculty of Dentistry. The Department undertakes teaching and research in the following areas:
Teaching at the Department of Oral Rehabilitation
The Department of Oral Rehabilitation undertakes teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
At undergraduate level, students in all of the Faculty's programmes interact with the Department. At graduate level, the Department offers courses of study and research leading to the degrees of Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) in Endodontics and in Prosthodontics, the Doctor of Philosophy through the Sir John Walsh Research Institute—a University of Otago Research Centre.
Completion of a DClinDent is the pathway towards registration as a dental specialist in New Zealand. The Department also offers a master's degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (PGDipClinDent) in General Dental Practice.
The Department provides specialist consultant services to dentists, the Health and Disability Commissioner, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), and industries allied to dentistry.
