A group of Cumberland College residents and residential assistants took part in Shave for a Cure on Saturday, shaving their heads and helping to raise over $1500 in the fight against cancer.

In all, three residential assistants, eight residents and the Head of College's own young son saw their heads shaved completely bald over the weekend.

Students Jareb Milner, Jack Holden, Declan White, Emma Simcock-Smith, Reuben Barclay, Lachie Scarsbrook, Jeremy Chua, Tim O'Neil, Luke Barker, and Jacob Goessi were supported by a crowd of over 100 fellow Cumby residents who were more than happy to watch the proceedings unfold on the College's tennis court.

Head of Cumberland College, Nick Bates says this was his son's fourth Shave for a Cure.

“Harry's raised almost $1000 personally over four years, mainly in response to his auntie's battle with cancer three years ago.

“It was an amazing effort by all involved. Everyone was inspired both by the story of Luke, who had lost both his father and step father to cancer before the age of 10, and Emma, who challenged others to step out of their comfort zones to help others. I am really proud of this group.”
