The Department of Pathology provides high quality postgraduate learning opportunities by strongly supporting postgraduate students both academically and financially, as well as providing study space, access to computers, IT support and all necessary research facilities and resources.

In their thesis year students are eligible to apply for scholarships and awards. Where students are unsuccessful in applying for financial support, the Department will endeavour to provide support by way of a Departmental Award.

Postgraduate students benefit from a strong support network within the Department involving fellow postgraduates and senior staff, including a postgraduate group meeting at least once a month to discuss research issues; the opportunity to present seminars on special topics; and a weekly journal club where students can present articles in an informal setting. A number of ad hoc activities are also organised on a regular basis.

Postgraduate students can earn extra money by demonstrating in courses taught by the Department—to medical, dental, physiotherapy, physical education, medical laboratory science, and science students.
