The Department has broad research interests in clinical psychiatry including old-age psychiatry, use of evidence-based medicine approaches to identify best treatments for acute mania and generalised anxiety disorder, assessment of clinical toxicity associated with synthetic cannabinoids, audit of ECT use in Otago, Bayesian analysis of suicide data, and others.
We have a number of planned and ongoing studies involving
- Adherence to medications based on HBM
- Association of anxiety and dementia
- Children and adolescents with ADHD
- Chronic schizophrenia
- Dementia prevention
- Depression
- Severe social anxiety disorder or generalised anxiety disorder
as well as working with healthy volunteers.
