An active area of research in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Health and Medical Psychology focusses on how psychological and behavioural factors influence physical health. The range of topics includes: classification and management of chronic pain, psychological factors of tinnitus distress, aggression and violence in healthcare, applications of mindfulness, issues for carers, and patient-clinician communication about persistent physical symptoms.
