Psychopharmacology is the scientific study of the effects drugs have on mood, sensation, thinking, and behaviour. We can explore these effects in preclinical models, in healthy volunteers and patients, by studying the effects of drug levels on symptoms, protein levels in blood, and biomarkers such as EEG. Nowdays novel imaging techniques play an important role in studying psychopharmacology.
We have recently completed a number of pharmacokinetic and safety studies with the following drugs:
- Ibogaine and noribogaine, potential treatments for opioid addiction
- Ketamine
We have ongoing biomarker, pharmacokinetic, and safety studies in the following areas:
- Benzoic acid in patients with chronic schizophrenia
- Biomarkers of various anti-anxiety drug classes
- Ketamine in anxiety and depression
- Ketamine biomarkers
