LGBTQI health and education

Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer identifying, and individuals with differences of sexual development (LGBTQI) experience large inequalities in health outcomes from increased rates of illness such as breast cancer and cardiovascular disease through to high risk of mental health conditions. Thus there is a pressing need to ensure health professionals can develop the knowledge and competencies required to meet the healthcare needs of LGBTQI individuals. Researchers within the Department of Psychological Medicine and the Department of Psychology are interested in curriculum development and models of educational practise within medical schools and other professional training programmes.
