Rebecca completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Statistics before joining the Department of Women's and Children's Health for her postgraduate education.
She completed her PhD under the supervision of Associate Professor Barbara Galland (Department of Women's and Children's Health), Dr Elizabeth Schaughency (Department of Psychology), and Dr Jillian Haszard (The Centre for Biostatistics).
Rebecca's thesis summarised the link between children's sleep disordered breathing (SDB), academic performance, and possible underlying risk factors that could place children with SDB at risk for having poorer school performance within three studies:
- A concurrent study of local Dunedin children at age 8
- A longitudinal study of local Dunedin children across the ages 3-to-8
- A cross-sectional nationwide survey of New Zealand school aged children
Upon completing her thesis Rebecca has gone to further her career training as a Biostatistician, within the School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne, building on the skills she acquired at Otago during her undergraduate, and postgraduate studies.
