CHHE 701 examinations
There is no examination for CHHE 701.
CHHE 702 examinations
The CHHE 702 paper is examined in July and January each year, rotating between Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington.
The exam has a written and a clinical component. Candidates must pass both the written and clinical components in order to pass the CHHE 702 paper.
Candidates must arrive at the clinical examination on the Wednesday afternoonprior to the examination. You will sit the written examination and data interpretation station at the centre on Thursday morning, with the clinical examination being on the Friday morning.
Candidates will normally be free to return home by late Friday afternoon.
Results
Your final result will be posted online and accessed through eVision using your University username and password. Please note results are no longer sent by mail.
Special consideration
You can apply for special consideration if you consider that acute illness or other exceptional circumstances beyond your control, at the time of an examination, or in the 14-day period immediately prior to it:
- Prevented you from sitting a final examination, or
- Seriously impaired your performance in a final examination

Level of award
Candidates who pass both the CHHE 701 and CHHE 702 papers shall be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
An overall mark for the DCH will comprise:
- 70% of the CHHE 702 mark
- 30% of the CHHE 701 mark
Candidates achieving an overall mark of 70–79% will achieve a pass in the DCH with credit.
Candidates achieving an overall mark of 80% or more will achieve a pass in the DCH with distinction.
Graduation
Once you have finished either the Diploma or Certificate you need to apply to graduate. The first step is to advise the University of your intention to graduate:
Log in to your eVision student portal, navigate to your "Home" page and select "Your graduation application". Complete the questions and submit your application.
On successfully submitting your application, an email notification will be sent to your nominated email address.
You can choose whether to graduate in person or in absentia. If you graduate in person, you will be 'capped' by the Chancellor and your degree or diploma will be presented to you on stage at the ceremony.
If you graduate in absentia, you do not attend the ceremony. Your name will be listed in the ceremony booklet (but not read out at the ceremony) and your degree or diploma will be sent to you by courier in the week following the ceremony, or if you are in Dunedin, you can come and collect it.
Even if you choose to graduate in absentia, your qualification can be awarded only at an official graduation ceremony.
