If you have a passion and enthusiasm for young children's learning, apply for admission to a teaching programme endorsed in Early Childhood Education. Graduates will be qualified to teach in a variety of early childhood settings in New Zealand and overseas.

Early Childhood Education is an endorsement for the Bachelor of Teaching and for the Master of Teaching and Learning.
Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)
A three-year undergraduate degree programme for those who do not hold a degree.
The Bachelor of Teaching endorsed in Early Childhood Education includes professional teaching issues, curriculum, educational theory and practice, and electives in a chosen subject area. Teaching experience – placements in early childhood settings – is also included.
Offered in Dunedin and Invercargill.
Master of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood Education)
This intensive one-year programme is designed for people who already have a degree.
The programme involves study of six compulsory papers addressing education and pedagogy (including diversity and inclusion), curriculum and professional experience. It includes a minimum of 80 days of professional experience in a range of early childhood settings. This involves working with a mentor teacher in block and weekly placements across an extended academic year (January to December).
A B grade average in the final year (300-level) major subject requirement of your undergraduate degree, or in the course components of a postgraduate qualification, is required for admission.
