Die Strasse was directed by Karl Grüne in 1923. The silent film features few intertitles, instead relating its two intertwining plotlines visually. One plotline covers a middle-aged man's escape from, his longing for, and his eventual return to domesticity. Below: The chaotic street watches passers-by, much in the same manner as Lowry's 'espiders'. |
