About

As Head Technician I lead the department's small, highly skilled technical team. Together, we provide service and support for all the department's teaching and research activities. We also assist with a wide range of problem-solving and logistical planning activities to assist staff and students as they prepare for and carry out their research.

Facility management is a significant part of my role and this includes equipment maintenance, specialist facilities and equipment requirements as well as arranging for building maintenance needs.

I trained as a Biochemist at Otago and have worked in and around the University campus for more than 30 years as a research fellow and research administrator. I have also worked in a wide range of departments, such as Biochemistry, Zoology, Chemistry and Central Administration. I joined Food Science in 2005 and have performed numerous roles, culminating in the role as Head Technician.
