About

As Head Technician I lead the department's small but skilled technical team. Together we provide service and support for all the department's teaching and research activities. We also assist with a wide range of problem solving and logistical planning activities to assist staff and students, as they prepare for and carry out their research work.

Facility management is a significant part of my role and this includes equipment maintenance, specialist facilities and equipment requirements as well as arranging for building maintenance needs. Currently the department is midway through a major refurbishment project which aims to create a dedicated home for Food Science for the foreseeable future.

I trained as a Biochemist at Otago and have worked in and around the University campus for more than 30 years as a research fellow and research administrator in a number of departments; such as Biochemistry, Zoology, Chemistry and Central Administration. I have been a part of the Food Science Department since 2005.
