Biographical information
Monika obtained her MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and her PhD in Molecular Ecology from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA and at the Museum of Natural History, Paris, France, before moving to New Zealand in 2009 as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Otago's Department of Anatomy.
Monika has been involved in various research projects that used DNA techniques, including next-generation sequencing platforms, to address population genetic questions in ecology, conservation and evolutionary biology. She joined the Otago Genomics Facility team in November 2012.
