How can communities, large and small, live more sustainably, managing social stresses, energy and food supplies, and dealing with waste? What is the legacy of previous poor environmental management and how do we respond? Are there better ways to manage ourselves and our activities, through policy and planning processes?
Our interests traverse the wide range of issues and challenges faced by society in trying to envision and implement sustainable practices, both here in Aotearoa New Zealand within the context of the Treaty of Waitangi, and internationally.
Staff and graduate student research is keenly oriented towards theory-based, applied research that makes real tangible contributions to the world around us.
