Health Sciences are fundamentally important for creating groundbreaking research solutions in the health sector and training the health workforce of the future.

As a Division, we are proud of our history and tradition, which contribute to the journeys of our tauira, kaimahi and communities. We are also well placed to respond to future needs and meet the challenges of a fast-changing world.

Our University ranks in the top 1 per cent globally due to our excellent teaching, community engagement and research.

Our students are supported to be successful in both their learning and careers, making sure they have a rewarding student experience regardless of where they are based, be it internationally, in our facilities in Auckland, Invercargill and Timaru, or in our main campuses in Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington.

Annually, we offer more than 600 papers and win more than $100 million in externally funded research. We train a considerable number of Aotearoa New Zealand’s health workforce, and our graduates are known for their clinical skills, interprofessional education, critical thinking and ability to research and question. Many of our staff have won prestigious awards recognising their research capabilities and outcomes, excellence in teaching and learning, and professional practice.

Programmes include substantial clinical or laboratory-based learning, providing the experience needed to best prepare students for a rewarding and successful career as a healthcare provider and scientist.

Our academics are diverse and internationally acknowledged for undertaking modern solutions to modern problems, delivering ground-breaking research and providing expertise to their patients.

The Division enjoys close research collaborations with other parts of the University as well as private, Government and other institutions within New Zealand and internationally.

More information about the undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and other programmes on offer can be found online or by contacting us.
