Biostatisticians in the Health Sciences Division provide statistical expertise for clinical, epidemiological and other health-related research. There are biostatisticians available to meet with researchers on our Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington campuses.
The biostatisticians can collaborate or offer advice on:
- Study design
- Appropriate statistical methods
- Funding applications
- Statistical packages
- Data coding and cleaning
- Statistical analyses
- Drafting and revising articles and reports
We recommend meeting with a biostatistician while you are defining your research question.
Early consultation allows us to help you identify the best methods and tools to suit your investigation.
We encourage PhD candidates to have their supervisor(s) present for at least the initial meeting. This helps develop a shared understanding of the purpose of the research.
