The Health Research Council (HRC) fosters Māori and Pacific Island health research in New Zealand. The HRC Māori and Pacific Health Summer Research Scholarships are:
- For Māori and Pacific Island researchers
- Valued at $7,500
- Ten-week projects that take place over the summer break.

HRC Career Development Programme
The HRC Career Development Programme is also an option for Māori or Pacific Island researchers.
Māori and Pacific Islanders are not limited to the above summer studentships and may apply to other HRC awards, or any other awards offered by the University of Otago (dependant on specific eligibility criteria).
