Lecture by Professor Beverly Roberts Gaventa

The Thomas Burns Memorial Lectures for 2024 will be delivered by Professor Beverly Roberts Gaventa on the theme of 'I am not ashamed’: Apostle and gospel in Paul’s Letter to the Romans.

Professor Gaventa is the Distinguished Professor of New Testament Interpretation at Baylor University in Texas, and Helen H.P. Manson Professor of New Testament Literature and Exegesis Emerita at Princeton Theological Seminary. She was President of the Society of Biblical Literature in 2016 and received the Burkitt Medal for Biblical Studies from the British Academy in 2020. She is the author of From Darkness to Light: Aspects of Conversion in the New Testament; Mary: Glimpses of the Mother of Jesus; I and II Thessalonians (Interpretation); The Acts of the Apostles (Abingdon Commentaries); Our Mother Saint Paul; When in Romans: An Invitation to Linger with the Gospel According to Paul; Romans (New Testament Library). She has also edited seven books and written many articles and book chapters.
