Located in the North Island, Auckland is New Zealand's biggest city. Home to a quarter of New Zealand's population, Auckland is a fast-moving, exciting city.
What is it like to live in Auckland?
Auckland's location in the northern half of the North Island means it has a warm climate. During summer, the mean temperature is around 23°C, and in winter around 15°C. Frost and snow is extremely rare, but rain is more common.
The Central Business District is home to many of New Zealand's major businesses, and is a bustling metropolis in its own right. However, residents can enjoy the laid-back lifestyle of the further reaching suburbs or islands.
The University of Otago in Auckland
