Conference leave is available to academic and professional employees who are required to attend online or travel to in-person work-related events or activities, like conferences, workshops, meetings, hui.
The leave encompasses travel time that is required to attend an event or activity.

From 6 May 2024, staff should use the new online Event Attendance and Travel Request form to submit their requests. Any applications lodged in the older system (OURDrive) before this date will continue to be handled there.
Applications for postgraduate students and external university representatives will move to the new system in the second half of 2024.
Applications for Conference leave should be made using the Event Attendance and Travel Request form.

Before applying for Conference leave, staff should familiarise themselves with the relevant information and policies.
Details of any relevant travel arrangements should be included in the request and should be made in accordance with the Travel Planning Procedure, Insurance Procedure, and the Travel Related Costs Policy.
