Interlinking is the video-linking of multiple lecture theatres together so that a number of audiences in different locations can view the same lecture at the same time. The interlinking system provides two-way audio and one-way video using multiple cameras at each location. The lecturer can also see and hear students from the remote venues.

When is interlinking useful?

It allows lecturers of large first year courses to deliver fewer repeat lectures, and means open lectures can be attended by much larger audiences.

Which theatres are interlinked?

The ITS-managed pool lecture theatres capable of interlinking include:

  • Archway 1, 2, 3 and 4
  • Castle 1 and 2
  • Quad 2 and 4
  • St David Lecture Theatre
  • Auditorium
  • Colquhoun

as well as rooms at the Christchurch, Wellington and Invercargill University of Otago campuses.
