The Sir Robert Stout Law Library | Te Whare Pukapuka Ture is situated on floors 6 to 9 of the Richardson Building.

It is a pleasant environment for research and study, with natural light and air, casual and formal seating spaces, and a well-resourced collection of books, journals and law reports.

The Law Library collections comprise of over 66,000 volumes, including primary legal materials for New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Canada. While most books and journals focus on the common law, there is an extensive collection of Comparative and International Law.

Facilities

The Law Library comfortably seats 275 readers across the four floors. This includes a Quiet Reading Room, Seminar Room, and three Group Study Rooms.

Wireless internet is available throughout the Library. Two group study rooms contain large plasma screens, and there is a distributed computer suite. Self-serve technology is available to issue books, print, copy and scan.

Online resources

Online legal resources are accessible through the Law Subject Guide. While many resources are subscription-based, freely accessible content is listed. The guide also supports learning around research, writing, and citing the Law.
