With every new venture, there is a tentative start. The Bibliography Room was no exception. The first item Keith Maslen and David Esplin printed on the Albion Press was this folded proof sheet ‘being the first trial piece of printing.’ According to Maslen, it was ‘pulled on Sunday 11 June 1961.’ Because such items are ephemeral, they are often lost. Fortunately, this first result was saved.
