William Plomer, Sado.

Sado is William Plomer's second novel, a story about cultural contact between Europeans and Asians. The first edition of 1931 has John Armstrong's striking image in blue, with his initials set at the top left hand corner of the jacket. The 1960 reprint utilizes red and the designer's initials have disappeared. Whatever the edition, it makes an excellent poster image.
