Russell also wrote much on agricultural and agrarian reform in Ireland, involved himself in social issues (he was a nationalist delegate at a peace conference in 1917), and continued general editorial duties on papers such as the Irish Statesman, which was lauded by G. B. Shaw as one of the most significant weeklies of the 20th century. While editing the Irish Statesman during the late 1920s, his Muse continued to inspire. Enchantment and other Poems (1930) was one result.
