Some Irish Essays
Russell was so imbued with the teachings of Madame Blavatsky and the Theosophist Society that he was described by a friend as 'aflame with Theosophy, a red hot missionary'. His Some Irish Essays (1906) not only contains some of his theosophical pamphlets, but also his reaction to the loss of Irish national identity as showcased in the 'theatre controversy' in the Dublin Daily Express of 1898.
