In the 1960s and 70s, Horwitz pumped out an endless stream of lurid war-themed paperbacks, most featuring the sadistic torments that the German and Japanese powers meted out on their enemies during the Second World War. And what better for Horwtiz when they could put on the cover: ‘Reprint by Demand’.

Here are two titles, each having two completely different covers. Scripts was a Horwitz imprint, generally reserved for their more salacious titles. Ray Slattery wrote most of the John Slater novels. Col Cameron created the cover for the first edition of Jim Kent’s Death’s Paradise.
