Built for Us
In 1986, the UOP established itself as an autonomous unit within the University, situated on the sixth floor of the Richardson Building. In 1992, the Press moved to 520 Castle Street, with two offices and access to a storeroom. No. 56 Union Street West was their next residence (temporarily for 12 months, they were told) until 2003, when the Press moved to 398 Cumberland Street, opposite Centre City New World. Lewis Martin's Built for Us, a study on Government and Colonial architects in New Zealand, was one of the first produced at these new quarters. It was printed in Hong Kong, through Condor Production Ltd., the Press's preferred overseas production house.
