Paula is a dedicated educator and researcher specialising in qualitative data analysis and human resource management. Her research focuses on multiple aspects of work, including communication dynamics, workplace structures, and evolving work environments. Her current projects examine the role of Human Resource Business Partners, remote work practices, performance management, and ageing in the workforce.

As an expert in qualitative analysis and Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDAS) software, Paula delivers training and workshops globally, equipping professionals and researchers with advanced analytical skills. Her work has been published in leading academic journals, including Human Resource Management Journal, Organizational Research Methods, Personnel Review, and Studies in Higher Education.

Paula currently serves as an Associate Editor for Personnel Review and is a co-director of the Otago research theme, Collaboration of Ageing Research Excellence (CARE), where she contributes to advancing interdisciplinary research on ageing and workforce dynamics. CARE has recently received HRC funding to complete a pilot project exploring ‘Ageing in Place in Ōtepoti’.

Paula has contributed to industry discussions through reports, interviews, podcasts, and guest articles, offering expert perspectives on contemporary workplace challenges. Her thought leadership is reflected in her engagement with professional networks such as Human Resources New Zealand, where she disseminates research findings and best practices in HR management.
