Hatchery1904

NZMSC logoFrom a fish hatchery in 1904 to a state-of-the-art university teaching laboratory, the Portobello Marine Laboratory has seen many changes in the last century.

As part of the Dunedin Heritage Festival, the New Zealand Marine Studies Centre is offering two sessions where you will learn about the history of New Zealand's oldest marine science institution, view plankton under a microscope in the brand new laboratory, and encounter at first-hand the marine life studied here.

The Aquarium is no longer open to the general public, so this is a unique opportunity to enjoy close-up viewing of the marine animals in our tanks and touch pools that are kept at the Portobello Marine Laboratory and the New Zealand Marine Studies Centre for education programmes.

This event is recommended for adults and children 5 years and above.

There are two sessions to choose from (see below). Numbers are strictly limited.

Book and pay online at https://secure-www.otago.ac.nz/events/nzmsc-2017/.
