Pussy Riot: Art, Protest & Power
The Department of Media, Film and Communication Studies at the University of Otago is delighted to host the ever-audacious Pussy Riot. Maria “Masha” Alyokhina is bringing the documentary “Act & Punishment” for an exclusive screening at the University of Otago.
The eight-member artivist troop of punk rockers, video-artists and actors will be on hand to discuss their commitment to art as protest and power.
Pussy Riot have embraced the charge of political 'hooliganism' mocking authoritarianism and placing themselves at the fore of universal feminist and humanist struggles. Join us for a conversation on the power of art, spectacle and transgression in these chaotic, media-saturated times.
